Important Self-Managed Super Fund changes

This month's ClearLaw covers issues affecting SMSF's. Cleardocs has made some important changes to our SMSF Deed:

• Contribution Splitting: draft regulations to allow spouses to split super contributions between accounts or funds.
  
• Defined Benefit Pensions dealine: 31 December 2005 is the last day of the transitional relief period for those funds eligible to update their Deeds to include Defined Benefit Pensions. Until that date, you will be able to use the Cleardocs SMSF Update package to include those Pension provisions - but this facility will be removed as of 1 January 2006.
  
• Changes to Cleardocs SMSF Deed: spcific provisions for contribution-splitting, and provisions for the "Transtition to Retirement" pensions have been included in the new version of the Cleardocs SMSF Deed.
